The Story

This is the 2022 Netherlands Women’s away shirt — a bold, blocky design that broke with tradition and introduced a fragmented version of the national tricolor. It debuted during a historic period for the Dutch women’s team, fresh off their UEFA Euro 2017 win and solidifying their place among Europe’s elite.

At Stitched FC, we reimagined this modern kit through a softer, more organic lens — one that pays homage to the country’s wildlife and natural beauty. A quiet celebration of football, femininity, and national spirit.

Design Direction

This piece features two beloved Dutch birds — the blue tit and the common kingfisher — stitched in vibrant color across the chest and side. These birds are not just beautiful, but symbolic of resilience and elegance in the Dutch countryside.

Surrounding them, you’ll find floral accents inspired by traditional Dutch gardens — soft petals layered into the strong graphic blocks of the original design. A fusion of geometry and nature, of structure and soul.
